COUNTYWIDE : CHP Reports Arrests of 51 Drunk Drivers

The California Highway Patrol made 51 drunk-driving arrests in Ventura County during the holiday period from 6 a.m. Dec. 28 to midnight Dec. 31, a spokesman said.
Drunk-driving arrests were down two, from 53 in 1989 during the same period, Officer T. J. McAllister said.
During the 90-hour period monitored by the CHP, there were five alcohol-related traffic accidents out of 15 collisions in the county. A total of 11 people were injured in seven of the accidents, McAllister said.
