BEIRUT — Iraqi opponents of President Saddam Hussein plan to form a government in exile dedicated to overthrowing 23 years of Arab Baath Socialist Party rule in Baghdad, a leader of the anti-Hussein coalition said Thursday.
Kurds, Communists, socialists, Muslim fundamentalists, nationalists and other groups operating in exile have joined forces to topple Hussein, according to Abu Maytham Saghir, a pro-Iranian Iraqi opposition leader.
“We are working to form an Iraqi government in exile and we hope the world will help us to overthrow Saddam Hussein,” Saghir said in an interview here.
