Ad Agencies Plan Merger: The Japanese-owned ad agency HDM Worldwide has agreed in principle to merge its New York and Los Angeles offices with the New York ad firm Lord Einstein O’Neill & Partners. The merged agency, which has yet to be named, will post annual billings of about $220 million. In Los Angeles, HDM’s clients include the tourism boards for Acapulco and Los Cabos, Mexico. Dick Lord, chairman of Lord Einstein, has been named chairman and chief executive of the new agency.
