No Crime at Ndutu
I share the gratitude of my many friends and acquaintances in Tanzania for the publicity the country quite often gets in your pages. But the caption to the photo of Ndutu Lodge (“African Travel Rewards Patience, Preparation,” Nov. 11), while perhaps grammatically correct, comes across as undeservedly bad publicity for Ndutu Lodge:
“Ndutu Lodge in animal-rich Tanzania, where urban street crime warrants State Department travel advisory.”
There is no street crime at Ndutu Lodge. It is far out in the Serengeti plains. As the body of your article correctly states, the warnings apply to the towns and mostly after dark.
