A man whose parents were found slain in their Valinda home less than an hour after they had returned from a vacation was arrested Tuesday and charged with the murders, authorities said.
At the time of the slayings, Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputies did not consider Deondre A. Staten, 24, to be a suspect in the Oct. 13, 1990, stabbing and shooting deaths of his parents, Arthur and Faye Staten.
But on Tuesday, investigators asked him to come into the City of Industry substation for questioning.
When Staten arrived at the station, deputies produced a warrant charging him with two counts of murder and jailed him without bail.
Investigators said that evidence linking him to his parents’ murders will be disclosed at his arraignment on Thursday in Citrus Municipal Court in West Covina.
