World IN BRIEF : SOUTH AFRICA : Black Activists Ask Provisional Rule

The African National Congress called for a conference of all political groups in South Africa to form a provisional government and quickly abolish apartheid. Nelson Mandela, deputy president of the group, warned that the white government must keep promises on releasing political prisoners and other issues or its commitment to ending minority rule would be questioned.
