WASHINGTON — Rep. Morris K. Udall (D-Ariz.) was improving but remained hospitalized today, recovering from a fall down a flight of stairs in his home, his administrative assistant said.
Matt James said Udall, 68, fell backward as he was going from the first to the second story in his Arlington, Va., townhouse.
Udall, chairman of the House Interior and Insular Affairs Committee, suffered broken ribs, a broken scapula and a concussion and was knocked unconscious in the fall, his office said in a statement.
Udall, who has Parkinson’s disease, was transported to the National Institutes of Health on Monday.
