John DiSante, an offensive lineman at Notre Dame High, has orally committed to the University of Washington, this year’s Rose Bowl champion.
The 6-foot-4, 265-pound senior will sign a letter of intent Feb. 6, the first day of the signing period for high school seniors. DiSante, who visited Washington over the weekend, previously had visited Cal and Colorado. He has canceled trips to UCLA and Stanford.
DiSante, a two-time All-Valley selection by The Times who has a 3.47 grade-point average, said he picked Washington because of the Huskies’ political science program. A tackle at Notre Dame, he will move to guard in college, he said.
“(The coaches) require quickness and good athletic ability and I have that,” DiSante said. “The offensive style is one that I like and one that I can fit into easily.”
