THOMASVILLE, Ga. — Country music star David Allan Coe has been upgraded to good condition, five days after major abdominal surgery.
Coe, 51, underwent emergency surgery Friday to repair a hernia. He “is progressing well in his recovery,” and was upgraded to good condition Wednesday, said Rick Ivey, a spokesman for John D. Archbold Memorial Hospital here.
Coe, perhaps best known for writing “Take This Job and Shove It” and recording Steve Goodman’s “You Never Call Me by My Name,” is scheduled to resume his concert schedule Jan. 18.
