ORLANDO, Fla. — Eight vehicles ran over and fatally injured a pedestrian on a busy street but only one driver stopped, police say.
“Nobody even hit their brakes. There wasn’t a single skid mark,” Police Officer Paul Shirley said.
Officer Jeff Goltzo saw lights on several cars bounce up and down as they struck the man.
“He was standing up when the first car hit him. . . . He ended up about 40 feet from where he was first hit,” Shirley said. “Each car bounced him along a little farther.”
The man, a transient believed to be in his mid-30s, had an alcohol blood level of 0.23%, more than twice the level considered legally drunk, when he was struck Tuesday night.
The only motorist who stopped was a young woman driving the fourth car that hit the man. The woman wasn’t charged.
