The City Council on Wednesday approved huge increases in application fees for some building and planning services.
The fee for subdividing land has been raised from $50 to $1,000 each time a lot is split, and zone change applications went from $200 to $1,000. The fee for adjusting a residential lot line is now $500, up from $200. The cost of appealing a decision by the city’s Design Review Committee or Planning Commission was doubled to $100.
David Saldana, Building and Planning Department director, recommended the changes to keep pace with the city’s increased processing costs.
City Manager Keith Till said, “The staff spends over $700 for each appeal that comes before the council.”
