Robbery Victim Resists, Is Killed

A Logan Heights man who refused to hand over his money during a robbery was shot to death Friday night in the parking lot of his apartment complex.
San Diego police said a robber approached Pancho Rubio and two companions in the 3200 block of Martin Avenue as they returned from dinner. The robber demanded money and when Rubio resisted, he was shot once in the chest with a .22-caliber rifle about 9:15 p.m. Friday.
He died about 10:48 p.m. at UCSD Medical Center.
