BRUSSELS — The takeover of a U.S.-based agricultural equipment subsidiary of Ford Motor Co. by the Italian giant Fiat SpA is one of three new mergers being probed by the European Community executive commission, EC documents showed today.
The other mergers involve a French-German banking joint venture in Hungary and a concentration involving Nestle SA in the clinical nutrition field, the documents indicated.
The latest merger notification involves the takeover by Fiat of Ford New Holland Inc. of New Holland, Pa., which produces agricultural machinery and earth-moving equipment. Fiat also produces such equipment through Fiatgeotech.
