Santa Monica : King’s Daughter to Speak
Bernice King, daughter of Martin Luther King Jr., will speak next week at Santa Monica College in an observance of the slain civil rights leader’s birthday.
King will speak on “Sharing Our Dreams: On the Road to the Mountaintop” as part of the annual celebration organized by the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Westside Coalition. Officials said it is one of the few times that any King family member has been outside Atlanta, their hometown, on the King holiday.
King, 27, is the youngest child of Martin Luther King Jr. and Coretta Scott King. An ordained minister, as was her father, she also has degrees in law and psychology.
Monday’s free program will begin at 9 a.m. in the Pavilion, 1900 Pico Blvd. Free parking is available on campus.
