ANAHEIM — A house fire that caused about $85,000 in damage Wednesday started when embers from a fireplace landed on the roof, fire officials said.
“The occupant was burning leaves in the fireplace, and the chimney did not have a spark arrester,” a fire spokesman said.
The blaze occurred about 2:20 p.m. at a single-family house at 1355 S. Sherrill St.
More than 15 firefighters contained the blaze within 20 minutes, fire officials said.
No injuries were reported.
