El Segundo High guard Chris Hansen set a CIF-Southern Section record for most three-point baskets in a game with 12 Tuesday night in a 93-50 nonleague victory over visiting Glendale Adventist.
Hansen, a 6-foot-4 senior, made 12 of 30 three-point attempts and finished with 40 points. He broke the previous record of 11 set last season by Rolling Hills guard Steve Clover against Torrance. Clover now plays for Pepperdine.
El Segundo improved to 13-7.
Glendale Adventist (2-10), a private school with an enrollment of 240 students, plays a free-lance schedule.
“We knew the team we were playing was kind of weak, so we were going to look for Chris if he got anything going,” El Segundo Coach Rick Sabosky said.
Hansen hit six three-point baskets in the first quarter as the Eagles opened a 28-12 lead.
