AT&T; Asks Court to Order NCR Meeting: American Telephone & Telegraph Co. filed legal papers seeking to compel NCR Corp. to call a special directors meeting that could clear the way for the phone company’s $6.1-billion takeover of NCR. In an amendment filed to an earlier U.S. District Court suit, AT&T; asked the court to issue a ruling requiring NCR to call the meeting promptly. Holders of 51% of NCR’s shares have sent requests to AT&T; asking NCR to hold the meeting, the phone company says. At such a meeting, AT&T; would ask shareholders to remove a majority of NCR’s directors, who have blocked the takeover.
