TOKYO — Top-seeded Steffi Graf breezed to a 6-2, 6-3 victory over Anke Huber, a 16-year-old fellow German, in the second-round of the Pan Pacific tournament today.
Gabriela Sabatini battled through 2 1/2 hours and two tiebreakers to defeat Australian Rachel McQuillan, 6-7 (5-7), 7-6 (7-3), 6-3, in a first-round match.
In other first-round matches, Kathy Rinaldi of the United States beat Japan’s Maya Kidowaki, 3-6, 7-5, 6-2, and American Robin White defeated Japan’s Tamaka Takagi, 2-6, 7-6 (10-8), 6-4.
