Debate Over Gateway Parkland Uses
Because state taxpayers’ money is being used for Mulholland Gateway Park, it should not be limited to a select few who hike or ride horses. Mulholland Gateway Park needs to have areas for the elderly, handicapped and all citizens to enjoy, which necessitates access to Reseda Boulevard and the paving of Mulholland Drive.
If paving Mulholland helps with the terrible traffic problems of Encino, that would be a major benefit to the Valley commuters and the Encino hillside residents. The Fire Department would also have better access to protect the Santa Monica Mountains.
Councilman Marvin Braude has made it emphatically clear that there will not be further development of housing tracts nor trash dumps. Those are dead issues. The Reseda Boulevard extension must be completed and Mulholland Drive must be paved.
