VENTURA : City, Well Owner Reach Agreement
- Share via
Water from a privately owned agricultural well could flow into Ventura’s public water system by June 30 under a renewable five-year agreement that the Ventura City Council has struck with the well’s owner.
The council voted unanimously Monday to temporarily take control of an agricultural well owned by Wittenberg-Livingston Inc. in an east Ventura agricultural field, 1,000 feet south of Saticoy Avenue and Telephone Road.
The cost of the work is estimated at about $70,000. Landowner Eric Wittenberg will have free use of the water to irrigate the agricultural field around the well and will get to keep the equipment, city spokeswoman Carol Green said.
