MALAYSIA: A “Visit Malaysia Year 1990” tourism campaign has paid off. Revenue from foreign tourists jumped 60% last year to $1.6 billion, with 7.4 million foreigners spending an average $221. The hotel-occupancy rate jumped to 73%, the highest in a decade. Tourism is Malaysia’s third-largest earner of foreign exchange.
