About 170 Chatsworth employees of the Rocketdyne Division of Rockwell International will be transferred to the company’s Westlake facility beginning April 29, a company official said.
Rocketdyne, internationally known for the development of jet propulsion systems, is moving its information systems employees to make better use of the space available at its Westlake office, said Diana Croon White, a Rocketdyne spokeswoman.
No new positions are being created, she said.
About 250 employees now work in the Westlake office at 2625 Townsgate Road, Thousand Oaks. The facility is involved in development of the propulsion system for an advanced experimental aircraft, the X-30, designed to travel into orbit at hypersonic speeds.
News of the transfer of Rockwell employees came soon after another company, Baxter Health Care Corp. of Deerfield, Ill., announced that it will move its headquarters and manufacturing plant to Newbury Park. Baxter employs about 700 people.
