Chamorro Visit
You were wrong when you said that President Violeta Barrios de Chamorro is the first Nicaraguan president to visit the U.S. in 52 years (“Bush Pledges Help on Nicaragua’s Debts,” April 18). Former President Daniel Ortega visited the U.S. nearly every year during his mandate, mainly to address the United Nations General Assembly. He also visited Washington in 1987, when he held meetings with congressional leaders that led to peace talks with the Contras.
