COLLEGE ROUNDUP : Chapman Wins Its First Conference Softball Title

The Chapman College women’s softball team, ranked second in NCAA Division II, swept a doubleheader with Cal State Dominguez Hills on Tuesday and clinched its first California Collegiate Athletic Assn. title.
Jacki Blake (22-4) pitched a two-hitter in a 4-0 victory in the first game, which clinched the title, and Cheri Schreck (18-6) pitched a four-hitter in a 2-0 victory in the second game.
Blake had two hits in each game and Kristina Webb had three hits, a run batted in and scored twice in the first game for Chapman (40-10, 11-5), which finished two games ahead of Cal State Bakersfield.
In nonconference baseball:
Loyola Marymount 6, Cal State Fullerton 4--Joe Testa hit a three-run home run in the sixth inning to give Loyola (32-19) the victory at Amerige Park. Phil Nevin and Jason Moler each had two hits for the Titans (27-21).
Southern California College 12, Claremont Mudd 1--Sean Maharg had a two-run home run in the fourth inning and John Mounce had three hits and three RBIs for the Vanguards (26-22).
Christ College Irvine 9, Biola 4--Terry Robinson had three hits and scored three times, Lonnie Zimmerman singled, doubled and had two RBIs and Mike Adams had a double and three RBIs for visiting Christ College Irvine (27-14-1).
Grand Canyon 9, Chapman 6--Chapman (13-32) scored six runs, three on a homer by Kevin Monson, in the bottom of the ninth inning at Hart Park.
