ANGELS : Journalist Winfield Ducks Port Issue

Angel outfielder Dave Winfield has known deposed General Manager Mike Port since their days with the San Diego Padres.

“He’s a nice guy,” Winfield said. “I hope he goes where it’s comfortable for him and he can prosper.”

Asked if he will discuss Port’s firing on his morning radio show, Winfield shook his head and said, “I’m not dealing with that.”

Dave Parker was dropped to sixth in the order and Gary Gaetti moved up to fifth. . . . Infielder Donnie Hill’s left thumb, sprained Sunday, was heavily taped and he may miss some playing time.
