PREP TRACK CHAMPIONSHIPS : ORANGE LEAGUE : Brea’s Bloomfield Takes Four Events; Valencia Boys, Girls Win

BREA — Dena Bloomfield, a Brea-Olinda senior, won four individual events to highlight the Orange League track and field championships Friday night at Brea-Olinda High School.
Bloomfield won the long jump (16 feet 8 inches), the 100 hurdles (15.61 seconds) and the 400 meters (1:01.04), and the 300 hurdles in 47.60.
In the team race, Valencia captured the girls’ championship with 193 points to runner-up Brea-Olinda’s 116.
Valencia was led by distance standout Heather Killeen, who won the 1,600 in 5:17.92 and the 3,200 in 11:20.04. Teammate Nicole Beauregard captured the shotput (40-5 1/4) and discus (119-7).
The Tigers also ran away from the field to win the boys’ championship with 170 points, ahead of Brea-Olinda with 80 and Savanna with 78.
Korey and Kevin Alexander, Brian Manning and Devon Edwards and weight-man Paul Richards led the Valencia boys. Korey Alexander won the high jump with a leap of 6-2 and the 100 meters in 11:04; Edwards won the 400 (50.70) and 200 (22.11) and Manning captured the 110 high hurdles in 15.25. The four teamed up in the winning 400 relay and 1,600 relay.
Savanna’s 300 intermediate hurdler Vince Flores won in 39.33.
