TENNIS ROUNDUP : Gustafsson Gets Past Lendl to Reach Final

Magnus Gustafsson of Sweden upset top-seeded Ivan Lendl, 6-4, 7-5, Saturday and advanced to the final of the BMW Open at Munich, Germany.
In the other semifinal, Guillermo Perez-Roldan of Argentina routed Christian Bergstrom of Sweden, 6-0, 6-0, in a match that lasted only 55 minutes.
Gustafsson, ranked 32nd in the world, needed 1 hour 36 minutes to beat Lendl, the third-ranked player in the world.
Monica Seles and Steffi Graf, the top women’s players in the world, meet today in the final of the German Open, but no matter what happens, Seles will remain No. 1.
Seles beat third-seeded Arantxa Sanchez-Vicario of Spain, 6-2, 6-4, and Graf breezed past Judith Weisner of Austria, 6-0, 6-1, in 41 minutes in the semifinals at Hamburg, Germany.
In their only meeting since Seles took Graf’s top ranking, Graf won in the final of the U.S. Hardcourts Championship at San Antonio.
Top-seeded Richey Reneberg and fourth-seeded Petr Korda of Czechoslovakia, each without an ATP Tour title, play today in the final of the USTA men’s clay courts tournament at Tampa, Fla.
Reneberg defeated Pablo Arraya of Peru, 6-3, 6-1, and Korda beat Chris Garner, 6-4, 6-4, in the semifinals.
Guy Forget and Henri Leconte rallied twice to win their doubles match and give France a 2-1 lead over Australia in the Davis Cup World Group quarterfinal at Nimes, France.
The Frenchmen beat Tood Woodbridge and Mark Kratzmann, 6-7 (7-2), 7-5, 5-7, 7-6 (7-2), 6-4, in a 4-hour 7-minute match.
In today’s reverse singles, Forget plays Richard Fromberg and 18-year-old French rookie Fabrice Santoro plays Wally Masur.
Seventh-seeded Jordi Arrese of Spain beat fourth-seeded Karel Novacek to reach the final of the Villa de Madrid tournament at Madrid, Spain.
Arrese will play fifth-seeded Marcelo Filippini of Uruguay, who beat Javier Sanchez Vicaro of Spain, 7-5, 6-1.
