Companies Organize Phone Book Recycling

San Fernando Valley residents can help recycle their phone books under a new program developed by Pacific Bell Directory in cooperation with Ralphs Grocery Stores, Pacific Bell said.
The companies are encouraging residents to bring their outdated phone books to the collection bins outside 12 Ralphs stores throughout the Valley until June 1. Workers from Bestway Recycling and Hillside Rubbish will then collect the discarded phone books and recycle them.
Pacific Bell will include recycling instructions with the estimated 1 million 1991 phone books that the company plans to deliver this month, the company said.
