Eight women joggers have been sexually assaulted in the San Diego area so far this year, and police fear that number will grow as more women take to jogging during warm summer months.
“Women who jog are cautioned to be aware of suspicious persons at all times,” police spokesman Bill Robinson said, “and if at all possible, to jog with a partner or in populated areas.”
Three of the assaults happened between the 3100 and 3800 blocks of Camino Del Rio North, Robinson said. The most recent of these occurred Sunday morning, when a woman was attacked by a man walking in her direction. The rapist is still at large.
None of the incidents appear to be related, Robinson said.
