Gulf Conflict Did Not Cut Recruiting, Pentagon Says

WASHINGTON — All military services met or surpassed their recruiting goals in the first half of fiscal 1991, when the United States was preparing for and fighting war in the Middle East, the Pentagon reported Thursday.
“To date, Operations Desert Shield and Desert Storm have had no adverse effect on recruiting,” the Pentagon said.
