SANTA ANA — A 23-year-old Santa Ana man died early Friday after being beaten with a stick during an argument the previous night, authorities said.
Police found Hassan Rahmaan about 10 p.m. Thursday outside a home in the 1700 block of West Wisteria Place, said Maureen Haacker, a police spokeswoman. He was suffering from cuts and bruises sustained during the fight a short time earlier.
Haacker said Rahmaan at first refused medical treatment at the scene but was finally taken to Coastal Communities Hospital in Santa Ana, where died a few hours later from internal injuries.
Police said Friday that the weapon appeared to be a 2-foot-long mop handle or similar kind of stick. The subject of the dispute--in the area of frequent drug-related incidents--was unclear.
