Former Ranger President Involved in Shooting

A woman was fatally shot early Friday by Mike Stone, former president of the Texas Rangers, after she broke into his home and ignored warnings to leave, Ft. Worth police said.

Jenice Miller, 46, was shot once in the neck with a .38-caliber handgun when she kept climbing a staircase toward his bedroom despite Stone’s warnings to “get the hell out,” police said.

She was pronounced dead at the scene of the shooting, which occurred at about 5 a.m. CDT.

Police said Miller, who lived in Stone’s suburban Arlington Heights neighborhood, was questioned in a 1:50 a.m. disturbance several miles south of the Stone home. Ft. Worth Police Chief Thomas Windham said Miller also broke into Connell Baptist Church that night.

No charges are expected to be filed against Stone.
