Reducing Air Pollution
In the article about the efforts of the AQMD to bring our air pollution under control, I read a long list of areas being attacked, including passenger cars, utilities, even back-yard barbecues. It seems nothing has been overlooked. Well, almost nothing. Diesel trucks have been overlooked.
Is it possible that any sane person driving the highways surrounded by these carcinogen-gushing monsters can fail to connect that black gunk coming out of their smokestacks with pollution?
If L.A. can convert school buses away from diesel, then the same can be done with 18-wheelers. And the next time some politician makes a speech about air pollution without mentioning diesel trucks, I hope someone from the media will point out that his spine is missing.
