Founder Sold 2 Newspapers

In the April 27 Ventura County edition, there was an article on Dan Schmidt and his legal difficulties (“D.A. Accuses Man of False Advertising”).
In the story, your reporter stated that Schmidt had founded both the Moorpark News and the Moorpark Mirror. That is correct. However, the story did not include the fact that Schmidt has not been connected with either paper in years. He sold the News in 1978 and sold the Mirror in 1989. The paper is now jointly owned by Harris Enterprises and John P. Scripps.
