SO LONG: John R. Lewis of Orange left the Assembly on Thursday much the way he spent his 11 years there--quietly. Lewis resigned at 9 a.m. and moved down the hall to be sworn in as the county’s newest state senator after winning Tuesday’s election for a vacant seat. . . . Democrats who control the Legislature didn’t mind skipping the traditional farewell speeches, because they’ve never much liked Lewis. Orange County voters, though, love to give him big election victories.
