UCLA, Fullerton Win in Softball

Sophomore pitcher Heather Compton pitched a perfect game and struck out 11 Friday as the top-ranked UCLA softball team defeated Central Michigan, 4-0, in the first game of their best-of-three series in the NCAA Pacific regional at UCLA’s Sunset Field.

Cal State Fullerton defeated Cal State Long Beach, 3-2, in 10 innings at Fullerton in the first game of another best-of three series.

UCLA, the three-time defending national champion, can advance to the College World Series by defeating Central Michigan today at 1 p.m. If the Bruins lose, the teams will play at 3:30 to decide the regional championship.

Fullerton and Long Beach also conclude their series today.
