BASEBALL : DAILY REPORT : DODGERS : Jobe Calls Hershiser Surgery a Success
- Share via
Frank Jobe, the surgeon who repaired Orel Hershiser’s pitching shoulder 13 months ago, said Hershiser’s rehabilitation has gone as smoothly as anyone could have anticipated--probably better--but that Hershiser needs more rehabilitation before he’s ready to return to the Dodgers. With Hershiser coming off a seven-inning, 83-pitch performance Saturday at Bakersfield, Jobe said, “We’ve got to get him to the point where he can go a little longer and not drag the bullpen down. . . . Endurance (is still building), but I don’t think that will be a problem. Tissue healing is a long process. I think he’ll continue to improve for another year.”
With some soreness in his separated shoulder, Darryl Strawberry didn’t start Saturday or Sunday but said he will be in the lineup today. He pinch-hit Saturday and didn’t play at all Sunday.
