SOUTHERN SECTION SOFTBALL PLAYOFFS : Quartz Hill Ends Alemany’s Season, 1-0

Heather Meyer threw a one-hitter and struck out 13 as Quartz Hill High defeated Alemany, 1-0, in a second-round game of the Southern Section 3-A Division softball playoffs at Alemany on Wednesday.
Meyer (19-2) allowed a leadoff single in the sixth and did not walk a batter for Quartz Hill (20-3). Christina Amend scored the game’s lone run on a second-inning sacrifice fly.
SMALL SCHOOLS DIVISION
Templeton 11, Campbell Hall 1--Cambri Horton had four hits, including three doubles, to lead host Templeton (17-5) in a second-round game. Campbell Hall (10-6) was limited to two hits.
Oakwood 6, Cate 5--Oakwood jumped to a 6-1 lead after four innings and held on for the victory at North Hollywood Park.
With two runs in and the bases loaded in the top of the seventh, sophomore Tracy Stern recorded the final out on a strikeout to preserve the win.
Jennifer Rogovin had two hits for Oakwood (17-3).
