Sony May Lease AT&T; Headquarters Building: AT&T; is near an agreement to lease its landmark Manhattan 35-story headquarters to Sony Corp., according to a published report. The proposed deal calls for a 20-year lease, with an option for the Japanese consumer electronics giant to buy the 8-year-old skyscraper, the New York Times quoted unidentified real estate executives as saying. By the end of the lease, Sony’s rent would rise as high as $23.45 million a year, the Times reported. The building is celebrated for its distinctive top that resembles a Chippendale chest of drawers.
