TUSTIN : Winners of Essay Contest Announced

The Tustin Area Woman’s Club has announced the winners of its 20th annual American Heritage and Citizenship Essay Contest.
The contest was open to second-, fifth-, eighth- and 11-grade students in the Tustin Unified School District.
Students wrote on topics including friendship, patriotism and the importance of preserving the environment. First-place winners in each grade received a $50 savings bond, certificate and medal. Second- and third-place winners each received a certificate and medal.
The five winning essays will be bound and displayed in the Tustin Area Historical Society Museum.
First-place winners are: Jessica Herrera, second grade, Loma Vista Elementary School; Jenny Badger, fifth grade, Arroyo Elementary School; Geoff Urland, eighth grade, Hewes Middle School; and Tamara Khalaf and Melissa Brooks, 11th grade, Foothill High School.
