R. H. Macy & Co.: The New York-based department store chain, which owns Bullock’s and I. Magnin stores in California, said it lost $116.4 million in its third quarter compared to a $63.1-million loss a year ago. The 1991 figures exclude a gain of $15.44 million in the quarter and $111 million for the year from securities sales. Macy cited the sluggish economy for its poor performance.
