NBC Didn’t Hook Her: “Saturday Night Live” executive producer Lorne Michaels said he is disappointed that actress Jan Hooks is leaving the program and wishes that NBC had done more to try to keep her. “I’m always reluctant to see ‘Saturday Night’ be a training ground for the movie studios and other networks,” Michaels said. “It’s the same way with Dennis Miller,” who left “SNL” to host his own syndicated show. NBC, Michaels said, could have offered both performers opportunities that would have kept them at the network, but failed to do so. Industry sources say Hooks will be joining the cast of CBS’ “Designing Women.”
