AD-LIB: A cast member of “Happy End” at South Coast Repertory had some fun at the expense of embattled Los Angeles Police Chief Daryl F. Gates on Saturday. . . . During the closing-night show, a Chicago policeman was supposed to say, “The chief isn’t gonna like this” before kicking a bum. Instead, actor Don Took quipped, “Chief Gates isn’t gonna like this”--drawing the biggest laugh all night.
