JOB FILLED: Sen. Marian Bergeson (R-Newport Beach) admits that she might be interested in Supervisor Thomas F. Riley’s 5th District seat when he finally retires. He’s 79. But when rumors flew in Sacramento last week that he might leave early to favor her, Bergeson called Riley to assure him she didn’t start them. She’s close to Gov. Pete Wilson and would be a likely front-runner for it. Riley told her not to worry. It’s moot anyway. . . . “She’d make a fine supervisor, but I’m going to stay until my term is up,” Riley said.
