A 20-year-old motorcyclist was killed when he crossed the center line on California 79 and hit a car head-on, the California Highway Patrol reported Monday. Jon Fagerstrom of Spring Valley was northbound at an unsafe speed on the mountainous highway about 3 miles south of Wolahi Road Sunday when his motorcycle drifted into the southbound lane, CHP spokesman Bob Melton said.

Fagerstrom’s motorcycle collided with a truck driven by Russell B. McKee, 43, of Coronado. Neither McKee nor his four passengers were hurt. Fagerstrom was pronounced dead at the scene.
