Teammates Bobby Rahal and Al Unser Jr. swept the front-row positions for today’s Indy car race at Elkhart Lake, Wis., and applied some pressure to points leader Michael Andretti.
Rahal’s record-setting lap of 134.466 m.p.h. Friday held up in the final round of qualifying, giving the two-time CART PPG Cup champion the 15th pole of his career. It also gave him one more point, cutting Andretti’s lead over Rahal to 176-172.
