Brentwood : Pool Hall Granted Permit

A Brentwood restaurant, bar and pool hall has once again been granted the conditional-use permit it needs to continue operating. A committee of the Los Angeles City Council approved the permit recently with the understanding that Q’s Billiard Parlor will close by 1 a.m. on weekends and at midnight the rest of the week--an hour earlier than owners had requested.

The decision was a defeat for neighbors of the parlor at 11835 Wilshire Blvd., who have long complained that the so-called yuppie pool hall has been a noisy nuisance and even a menace since it opened two years ago.

But co-owner Yossi Kviatkovsky said he considered the decision a defeat for his business as well. He said the early closing would cost him $25,000 a month in business.
