Hopeful Talk: Director John Sayles will bring his ideas on the “City of Hope” to the City of Angels tonight when he leads a panel discussion following the premiere of his new film at the Avco Center Cinema in Westwood. Sayles will be joined at 9:30 p.m. by L.A. City Council members Michael Woo and Richard Alatorre, USC School of Architecture Dean Robert S. Harris and Mike Neely, director of the Homeless Outreach Program, to discuss issues raised in “City of Hope” and how they apply to Los Angeles. The movie, which opens on Oct. 25, deals with the way individuals can make a difference amid urban decay.
