SALEM, Ore. — A 13-year-old girl was stranded at a rest stop early Tuesday when her father drove off without realizing she had gotten out of the van, police said.
Jim Hahne did not notice his daughter Iris was missing until after he reached Seattle, 6 1/2 hours and nearly 200 miles later.
Hahne contacted Washington state authorities. They got in touch with Oregon state police, who had picked Iris up at the rest stop.
