Los Angeles Police Officer George A. Rose, accidentally shot in the head by a fellow officer during a gun battle with an armed suspect outside the Southwest Division station, remained in extremely critical condition Thursday--five days after he was wounded.
Officials at County-USC Medical Center, where Rose underwent three hours of surgery Saturday, said he is still hooked to life-support systems in the intensive care unit. He has not regained consciousness since the shooting, a hospital spokeswoman said.
Rose, 30, was struck once as fellow officers in the parking lot opened fire on an armed suspect who was allegedly shooting at his estranged wife.
